English in schools must adapt to reflect the use of text messaging and communication via new technologies, a report says. Research by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority says new skills are needed to keep pace with change. It says schools should take advantage of the range of texts now available to teach the language, including online. The recommendations come in a report which examined the future of the major curriculum subjects. … The document looked at art and design, business education, citizenship, design and technology, English, geography, history, information and communication technology, maths, modern foreign languages, music, personal, social and health education, physical education, religious education and science. … The QCA document sets out the views of experts on the future of all the subjects studied in schools in England.
